The average import price for steel, stainless stood at $4,104 per ton in 2022, growing by 28% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 93%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $9,760 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($10,892 per ton), while the price for China ($3,718 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average export price for steel, stainless amounted to $6,156 per ton, which is down by -39.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 100% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $11,941 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($8,835 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($5,365 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Georgia (-4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports of steel, stainless into Ukraine dropped notably to 153 tons in 2022, waning by -61.9% compared with 2021. In general, imports saw a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 132%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 401 tons, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of steel, stainless, when their volume decreased by -32.5% to 26 tons. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 659%.
In value terms, exports of steel, stainless shrank rapidly to $158K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 502% against the previous year.
