The average steel, alloy; semi-finished products import price stood at $798 per ton in August 2023, reducing by -3.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 11% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $977 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($11,002 per ton), while the price for Mexico ($715 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+23.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $3,381 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Honduras ($5,400 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($450 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Honduras (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 27%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, steel, alloy; semi-finished products exports dropped to $35M in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 16%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $44M.
