In July 2023, the average steel, alloy; semi-finished products export price amounted to $8,286 per ton, jumping by 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 57% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $10,447 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hungary ($11,373 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($4,803 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In July 2023, the average steel, alloy; semi-finished products import price amounted to $1,579 per ton, rising by 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 24% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,630 per ton in September 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to July 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($4,620 per ton), while the price for Germany ($1,547 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
