The average import price for spices; cardamoms, crushed or ground stood at $22,629 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 67%. In general, the export price, however, showed a deep slump. The export price peaked at $5,000 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($4,364 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($125 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2018 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bahrain (+17.6%).
