The average import price for raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries stood at $7,845 per ton in July 2023, shrinking by -12.4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 71% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $9,102 per ton. From October 2022 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($10,610 per ton), while the price for Austria ($6,726 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Raspberry, Blackberry, Blueberry, and Cranberry in Slovakia (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries stood at $9,151 per ton in July 2023, which is down by -7.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed notable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 82% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $22,376 per ton. From May 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($17,403 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($7,807 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+7.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Raspberry, Blackberry, Blueberry, and Cranberry in Slovakia
For the fourth year in a row, Slovakia recorded growth in overseas purchases of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries, which increased by 9.2% to 3.6K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +60.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports shrank modestly to $24M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +46.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $24M, and then dropped slightly in the following year.
