In August 2023, the average import price for raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries amounted to $4,848 per ton, waning by -14.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, enjoyed temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 63% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $10,076 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Austria ($9,432 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($994 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries amounted to $5,393 per ton, waning by -24.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 91% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $14,317 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($15,907 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($2,750 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Raspberry, Blackberry, Blueberry, and Cranberry in Hungary

In 2022, the amount of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries imported into Hungary soared to 2.1K tons, surging by 30% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.0% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports reached $13M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +56.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports reduced remarkably to $234K in 2022. Overall, exports saw a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 37%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $413K, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
