The average import price for press-fasteners, snap-fasteners, press-studs and parts therefor stood at $9,311 per ton in August 2023, shrinking by -34% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 44% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $18,254 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($50,018 per ton), while the price for China ($5,487 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for press-fasteners, snap-fasteners, press-studs and parts therefor stood at $37,223 per ton in 2022, reducing by -30.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 65%. The export price peaked at $66,626 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($93,097 per ton), while the average price for exports to Moldova ($9,504 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+31.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of press-fasteners, snap-fasteners, press-studs and parts therefor decreased by -0.5% to 169 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 4.9%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 171 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, imports of press-fasteners, snap-fasteners, press-studs and parts therefor contracted rapidly to $2.6M in 2022. Overall, imports saw a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $3.2M, and then fell sharply in the following year.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of press-fasteners, snap-fasteners, press-studs and parts therefor, when their volume decreased by -22% to 2 tons. In general, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +37.9% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 66% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 2.5 tons, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, exports of press-fasteners, snap-fasteners, press-studs and parts therefor declined remarkably to $73K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 58%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $136K, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
