Price for Polypropylene in Primary Forms in Azerbaijan (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average polypropylene in primary forms export price amounted to $1,111 per ton, with a decrease of -3% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 19% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,234 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Russia ($1,187 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey amounted to $801 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+0.7%).
Price for Polypropylene in Primary Forms in Azerbaijan (CIF) - 2023
The average polypropylene in primary forms import price stood at $1,242 per ton in September 2023, falling by -4.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 16% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,504 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Iran ($1,660 per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($1,277 per ton), while the price for Russia ($1,120 per ton) and South Korea ($1,210 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Polypropylene in Primary Forms in Azerbaijan
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of polypropylene in primary forms decreased by -16.9% to 71K tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 12%.
In value terms, polypropylene in primary forms exports fell notably to $91M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 86%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $120M, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
