The average import price for pearls; articles of natural or cultured pearlses stood at $154,377 per ton in 2022, dropping by -14.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 311% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $180,530 per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($195,559 per ton), while the price for India ($44,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+21.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
