In 2022, the average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds amounted to $276 per ton, reducing by -40.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 101% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,022 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($620 per ton), while the price for Afghanistan ($101 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Singapore ($210 per ton) and Malaysia ($194 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($182 per ton) and Qatar ($183 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Oman (-3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
