In October 2023, the average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds amounted to $1,956 per ton, growing by 22% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 65% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,019 per ton; afterwards, it flattened through to October 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Turkey ($2,693 per ton), while the price for Albania ($796 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+117.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In October 2023, the average export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds amounted to $1,328 per ton, declining by -38.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2023 when the average export price increased by 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,376 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($4,078 per ton), while the average price for exports to Senegal ($817 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cyprus (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
