In 2022, the average export price for sunflower seed amounted to $5,033 per ton, declining by -11.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 51%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $6,252 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Argentina ($5,774 per ton) and France ($4,922 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($4,139 per ton) and Spain ($4,537 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Argentina (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price peaked at $1,329 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to December 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
