In 2022, the average nickel; unwrought, not alloyed import price amounted to $24,672 per ton, increasing by 35% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($30,523 per ton), while the price for Germany ($16,006 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of nickel; unwrought, not alloyeds decreased by -17.7% to 21 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -26.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 48% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 28 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, nickel; unwrought, not alloyed imports expanded sharply to $508K in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -8.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 83% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $558K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
