The average import price for liquefied petroleum gases other than propane, butanes, ethylene, propylene, butylene or butadienes stood at $433 per ton in 2022, falling by -6.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 70%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,749 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($72 per ton), while the price for the United States stood at $64 per ton.

In value terms, imports of liquefied petroleum gases other than propane, butanes, ethylene, propylene, butylene or butadienes expanded slightly to $605M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 2.8% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
