In 2022, the average import price for liquefied ethylene, propylene, butylene and butadienes amounted to $786 per ton, which is down by -23.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 45%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,364 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($10,665 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates totaled $6,321 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nigeria (+76.1%).

In 2022, imports of liquefied ethylene, propylene, butylene and butadienes into Ghana rose notably to 304 kg, increasing by 11% on 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 12%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, imports of liquefied ethylene, propylene, butylene and butadienes dropped significantly to $239 in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 10% against the previous year.
