The average import price for lamps; discharge, (excluding ultra-violet), fluorescent, hot cathodes stood at $2.6 per unit in October 2023, waning by -2.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 when the average import price increased by 92% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2.7 per unit in September 2023, and then reduced modestly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($4.0 per unit), while the price for Denmark ($1.6 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In October 2023, the average export price for lamps; discharge, (excluding ultra-violet), fluorescent, hot cathodes amounted to $2.5 per unit, approximately reflecting the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a mild reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 46% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $3.3 per unit in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($12.2 per unit), while the average price for exports to France ($1.5 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+21.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Lamps; Discharge, (Excluding Ultra-Violet), Fluorescent, Hot Cathode in Germany
For the third year in a row, Germany recorded decline in purchases abroad of lamps; discharge, (excluding ultra-violet), fluorescent, hot cathodes, which decreased by -18.9% to 32M units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a deep reduction. The smallest decline of -3.7% was in 2021. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure at 54M units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of lamps; discharge, (excluding ultra-violet), fluorescent, hot cathodes declined to $45M in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a deep setback. The smallest decline of -3.3% was in 2021. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at $65M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
