In November 2023, the average import price for lac; natural gums, resins, gum-resins and balsamses amounted to $5,196 per ton, picking up by 7.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a perceptible expansion from November 2022 to November 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.6% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on November 2023 figures, import price for lac; natural gums, resins, gum-resins and balsamses increased by +19.3% against September 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 58% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $7,120 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to November 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was India ($8,789 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($3,014 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sudan (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
