Price for Grapes; Fresh or Dried in China (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average grapes; fresh or dried export price amounted to $1,551 per ton, with a decrease of -12.2% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a mild setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 31% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,719 per ton. From June 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($1,942 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($1,116 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average grapes; fresh or dried import price stood at $2,225 per ton in September 2023, rising by 16% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 45% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,122 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,587 per ton), while the price for Uzbekistan ($1,550 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Exports of Grapes; Fresh or Dried in China
In 2022, exports of grapes; fresh or drieds from China expanded rapidly to 394K tons, rising by 6.4% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a slight decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 15%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 470K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, grapes; fresh or dried exports contracted modestly to $763M in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 19%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $1.3B. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
