Price for Glass Fibre Chopped Strand in France (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average glass fibre chopped strand export price amounted to $1,411 per ton, which is down by -5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,683 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($1,589 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($884 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average glass fibre chopped strand import price stood at $2,183 per ton in July 2023, with an increase of 4.8% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a mild expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, glass fibre chopped strand import price increased by +109.8% against January 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 53% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in July 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($3,657 per ton), while the price for China ($976 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Exports of Glass Fibre Chopped Strand in France
Glass fibre chopped strand exports from France contracted rapidly to 88K tons in 2022, which is down by -16.7% compared with 2021. In general, exports saw a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 106K tons, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, glass fibre chopped strand exports rose slightly to $129M in 2022.
