Price for Glass Fibre and Article in Hong Kong SAR (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average glass fibre and article export price amounted to $8,367 per ton, shrinking by -3.1% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 60%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $10,315 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($36,984 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($1,642 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+12.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Glass Fibre and Article in Hong Kong SAR (CIF) - 2022
The average glass fibre and article import price stood at $8,813 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 4.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, glass fibre and article import price increased by +3.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($45,641 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($2,835 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+21.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Glass Fibre and Article in Hong Kong SAR
In 2022, overseas shipments of glass fibres and glass fibre articles decreased by -5.8% to 24K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +18.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +68.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 26K tons, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, glass fibre and article exports shrank to $204M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +36.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 29%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $224M, and then shrank in the following year.
