Price for Frozen Crab and Crab Meat in Ireland (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for frozen crabs and crabs meat stood at $8,248 per ton in June 2023, waning by -4.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 29% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $11,411 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Sweden ($11,585 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($6,481 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for frozen crabs and crabs meat amounted to $5,137 per ton, surging by 42% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, frozen crab and crab meat import price increased by +63.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 65%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $5,353 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($14,987 per ton), while the price for the UK ($2,617 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the amount of frozen crabs and crabs meat exported from Ireland totaled 3.5K tons, growing by 2.2% on the previous year. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 20%.
