Price for Dithionites and Sulphoxylates; Other than Sodium in China (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for dithionites and sulphoxylates; other than sodia stood at $2,022 per ton in December 2023, remaining constant against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2023 when the average export price increased by 4.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,111 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In December 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Russia ($2,253 per ton) and Pakistan ($2,115 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($1,528 per ton) and Brazil ($2,085 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bangladesh (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for dithionites and sulphoxylates; other than sodia amounted to $4,087 per ton, with an increase of 6.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $5,183 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($4,568 per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) amounted to $2,674 per ton.
