Price for Crab and Crab Meat in Norway (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average crab and crab meat export price amounted to $32,748 per ton, falling by -16.5% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a tangible expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 70% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $39,216 per ton in August 2023, and then fell markedly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($68,609 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($11,313 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average crab and crab meat import price amounted to $8,947 per ton, declining by -54.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 33%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $31,968 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($75,817 per ton), while the price for Denmark ($3,280 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+10.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Crab and Crab Meat in Norway
Crab and crab meat exports from Norway shrank markedly to 6.1K tons in 2022, reducing by -18.5% on the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
