In 2022, the average cherry and sour cherry import price amounted to $4,091 per ton, falling by -5.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a pronounced shrinkage. In 2022, the average cherry and sour cherry export price amounted to $8,477 per ton, with an increase of 3.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 122%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $9,433 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($15,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain stood at $8,326 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Paraguay (+25.9%).
Imports of Cherry and Sour Cherry in Brazil
In 2022, the amount of cherries and sour cherries imported into Brazil skyrocketed to 3.8K tons, picking up by 37% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last three years.
