Price for Cereals; Millet, Other than Seed in Morocco (CIF) - 2023

The average import price for cereals; millet, other than seeds stood at $575 per ton in June 2023, falling by -4.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 an increase of 20% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $634 per ton. From September 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Russia ($594 per ton) and Turkey ($582 per ton), while the price for India ($510 per ton) and Ukraine ($529 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for cereals; millet, other than seeds stood at $396 per ton in 2022, falling by -61.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price decreased by -12.4% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4,900 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cabo Verde ($1,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain totaled $318 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (-38.5%).

Imports of Cereals; Millet, Other than Seed in Morocco

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of cereals; millet, other than seeds decreased by -39.9% to 5.1K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 48%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 8.5K tons, and then contracted notably in the following year.

In value terms, cereals; millet, other than seed imports reduced sharply to $2.9M in 2022.
