Price for Cereals; Maize (Corn), Other than Seed in Hungary (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds stood at $274 per ton in August 2023, growing by 1.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 8% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $353 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($1,345 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($186 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds amounted to $283 per ton, picking up by 4.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 50%. The import price peaked at $292 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Poland ($322 per ton) and Austria ($312 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($269 per ton) and Slovakia ($285 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas shipments of cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds decreased by -39.9% to 1.9M tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth.
