The average import price for buttons; of base metal, not covered with textile materials stood at $6,453 per ton in 2022, falling by -5.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $7,465 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($8,994 per ton), while the price for China totaled $6,096 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+11.9%).
Imports of Buttons; of Base Metal, Not Covered with Textile Material in Iraq
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of buttons; of base metal, not covered with textile materials, when their volume decreased by -10.6% to 26 tons. In general, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +39.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 25% against the previous year.
In value terms, imports of buttons; of base metal, not covered with textile materials declined dramatically to $166K in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year.
