The average books, brochures and leaflets import price stood at $11,693 per ton in June 2023, waning by -10.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 31% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $16,215 per ton. From January 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($21,915 per ton), while the price for Slovakia ($4,192 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In June 2023, the average books, brochures and leaflets export price amounted to $13,603 per ton, leveling off at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 24% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $14,712 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Poland ($18,973 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($4,669 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Germany

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter decreased by -7.2% to 114K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 123K tons, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets imports fell markedly to $1.4B in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $1.8B, and then contracted notably in the following year.
