In December 2023, the average import price for aluminium oxide (including artificial corundum); aluminium hydroxide amounted to $629 per ton, with a decrease of -27% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2023 when the average import price increased by 83% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,155 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to December 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,042 per ton), while the price for Greece ($216 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+18.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 78%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,700 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($5,953 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($741 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+54.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
