Price for Aluminium; Alloys, Bars, Rods and Profiles, Other than Hollow in China (FOB) - 2023
In December 2023, the average export price for aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows amounted to $3,518 per ton, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2023 when the average export price increased by 3.5% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $3,675 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to December 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Australia ($4,055 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nigeria ($2,339 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows stood at $8,309 per ton in December 2023, surging by 1.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 14% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $8,986 per ton. From May 2023 to December 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($9,126 per ton), while the price for Zimbabwe ($1,611 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, exports of aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows from China expanded slightly to 425K tons, with an increase of 2.3% against 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 11% against the previous year.
In value terms, exports of aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows expanded notably to $1.7B in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +55.6% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 37%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
