Preserved Sardines Price in Cameroon (CIF) - 2022
The average preserved sardines import price stood at $2,733 per ton in 2022, dropping by -2.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, preserved sardines import price decreased by -0.5% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,802 per ton in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($8,667 per ton), while the price for Tunisia ($1,016 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+31.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Sardines Price in Cameroon (FOB) - 2022
The average preserved sardines export price stood at $2,662 per ton in 2022, declining by -5.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 21% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $2,805 per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Central African Republic ($3,576 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($187 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Central African Republic (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Preserved Sardines Imports in Cameroon
In 2022, imports of sardines (prepared or preserved) into Cameroon soared to 3.7K tons, picking up by 34% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, recorded a slight shrinkage.
In value terms, preserved sardines imports soared to $10M in 2022. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern.

Preserved Sardines Exports in Cameroon
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of sardines (prepared or preserved), when their volume decreased by -26.4% to 16 tons. In general, exports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 112%.
In value terms, preserved sardines exports contracted notably to $44K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 152%.
