Preserved Olive Price in Panama (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average preserved olive import price amounted to $2,738 per ton, waning by -20.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 36% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $3,765 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,723 per ton), while the price for Greece ($1,337 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Preserved Olive Price in Panama (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average preserved olive export price amounted to $2,148 per ton, stabilizing at the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,459 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($10,755 per ton), while the average price for exports to Costa Rica ($530 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Colombia (+16.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Olive Imports in Panama
In 2022, imports of olives prepared or preserved into Panama surged to 1.2K tons, growing by 36% on 2021 figures. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +90.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 41%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, preserved olive imports surged to $3.2M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 57%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
