Pistachio Price in Jordan (CIF) - 2022
In December 2022, the average pistachio import price amounted to $13,526 per ton, growing by 9.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2022 an increase of 21% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $15,974 per ton in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to December 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was Afghanistan ($15,977 per ton), while the price for Greece ($8,399 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pistachio Price in Jordan (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average pistachio export price amounted to $9,506 per ton, declining by -29.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 139% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $14,184 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($56,253 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($2,906 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+17.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pistachio Imports in Jordan
In 2022, imports of pistachios into Jordan expanded significantly to 2.9K tons, growing by 8% against the year before. In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -26.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 62%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 3.9K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, pistachio imports rose significantly to $39M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -25.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 68% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $52M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Pistachio Exports in Jordan
In 2022, shipments abroad of pistachios decreased by -31.9% to 318 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 217% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 600 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, pistachio exports declined sharply to $3M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 231% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $7.7M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
