The average phosphorus import price stood at $4,949 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -4.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 22%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $7,135 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($4,949 per ton), while the price for the United States amounted to $4,948 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (-2.1%).
Phosphorus Imports in Peru
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of phosphori decreased by -15.4% to 19 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 138% against the previous year.
In value terms, phosphorus imports fell notably to $96K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 63%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $119K, and then declined notably in the following year.
