Palm Kernel Oil Price in Belgium (CIF) - 2023
The average palm kernel oil import price stood at $1,691 per ton in July 2023, reducing by -18.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 7% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,882 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($4,042 per ton), while the price for Papua New Guinea ($1,435 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+33.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Palm Kernel Oil Price in Belgium (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average palm kernel oil export price amounted to $2,739 per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 an increase of 13% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $4,094 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($3,776 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($2,457 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Palm Kernel Oil Imports in Belgium
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in overseas purchases of palm kernel and babassu oil, when their volume decreased by -0.5% to 45K tons. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 41%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 45K tons, leveling off in the following year.
In value terms, palm kernel oil imports surged to $113M in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 95% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
