Orange Price in Hong Kong SAR (CIF) - 2023
The average orange import price stood at $1,083 per ton in September 2023, which is down by -10.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,658 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the United States ($1,441 per ton) and Australia ($1,255 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($982 per ton) and South Africa ($992 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In September 2023, the average orange export price amounted to $1,061 per ton, falling by -5.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 24% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,842 per ton. From April 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Macao SAR ($1,574 per ton), while the average price for exports to China totaled $1,054 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Macao SAR (+0.5%).
