China (357K tons) constituted the country with the largest volume of production of oil and water paints and varnishes, accounting for 26% of total volume. In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (45K tons), distantly followed by Germany (21K tons) and Italy (14K tons) were the largest exporters of oil and water paints and varnishes, together comprising 41% of total exports. The average export price for oil and water paints and varnishes stood at $4,339 per ton in 2022, which is down by -10.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $4,863 per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
