Oat Price in the Dominican Republic (CIF) - 2023
In March 2023, the average oat import price amounted to $787 per ton, with a decrease of -10.1% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 19% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,089 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to March 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2023, the country with the highest price was Chile ($788 per ton), while the price for Argentina amounted to $735 per ton.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Oat Price in the Dominican Republic (FOB) - 2022
The average oat export price stood at $986 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -37.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 72%. The export price peaked at $2,257 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,294 per ton), while the average price for exports to Haiti stood at $981 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+13.1%).
Oat Imports in the Dominican Republic
In 2022, purchases abroad of oats decreased by -10.2% to 10K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 14K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, oat imports soared to $9.1M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +12.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 29%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
