The average natural sand import price stood at $431 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a slight decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 122% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $736 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,784 per ton), while the price for Costa Rica ($92 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guyana (+32.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Costa Rica ($54 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cabo Verde amounted to $38 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Costa Rica (-23.2%).
Natural Sand Imports in Panama
In 2022, overseas purchases of natural sands decreased by -95.6% to 43 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth.
