Nail and Bolt Price in Canada (CIF) - 2023
The average nail and bolt import price stood at $1,133 per ton in June 2023, picking up by 4.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 15% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,455 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($3,421 per ton), while the price for Japan ($455 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Nail and Bolt Price in Canada (FOB) - 2022
The average nail and bolt export price stood at $7,572 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 8.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 9.9%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $21,124 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($11,563 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($6,966 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (-9.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, overseas purchases of nails, tacks, staples, screws and bolts were finally on the rise to reach 1.7M tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, saw a abrupt setback.
