Mullite Price in China (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average mullite export price amounted to $424 per ton, jumping by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a resilient expansion. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($723 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($316 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+20.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Mullite Price in China (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average mullite import price amounted to $1,098 per ton, shrinking by -11.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, posted noticeable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 138% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,839 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($3,839 per ton), while the price for the United States stood at $771 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+2.9%).
Mullite Exports in China
For the fourth consecutive year, China recorded growth in overseas shipments of mullites, which increased by 0.5% to 94K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +48.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, mullite exports surged to $40M in 2022. Overall, exports enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 51%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
