The average millet import price stood at $355 per ton in 2022, surging by 20% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 25% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $429 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($455 per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($203 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average millet export price stood at $249 per ton in 2022, surging by 17% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a resilient expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Qatar.
From 2013 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Qatar amounted to +13.3% per year.
Millet Imports in Oman
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of millet, when their volume decreased by -16.4% to 5.6K tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 74%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 6.7K tons, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, millet imports stood at $2M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +21.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +78.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Millet Exports in Oman
For the third year in a row, Oman recorded decline in shipments abroad of millet, which decreased by -13.9% to 154 tons in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The smallest decline of -1.9% was in 2021.
In value terms, millet exports totaled $38K in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period.
