Milled Rice Price in Croatia (CIF) - 2023

The average milled rice import price stood at $1,419 per ton in June 2023, reducing by -3.7% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,473 per ton in May 2023, and then shrank in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,862 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($612 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average milled rice export price amounted to $1,735 per ton, increasing by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,878 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Montenegro ($2,731 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($768 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+21.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Milled Rice Imports in Croatia

Milled rice imports into Croatia rose remarkably to 12K tons in 2022, growing by 8.8% compared with 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, milled rice imports surged to $14M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +11.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
