Liquefied Propane Price in Ukraine (CIF) - 2022

The average liquefied propane import price stood at $872 per ton in 2022, picking up by 54% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded pronounced growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 61% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,021 per ton), while the price for Belarus ($632 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+64.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average liquefied propane export price stood at $781 per ton in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 80%. The export price peaked at $843 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were North Macedonia ($985 per ton) and Montenegro ($972 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($752 per ton) and Bosnia and Herzegovina ($955 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Liquefied Propane Imports in Ukraine

In 2022, purchases abroad of liquefied propanes decreased by -35.9% to 628K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a abrupt decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 19%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1M tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, liquefied propane imports declined to $548M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +51.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 52%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $554M, and then declined slightly in the following year.
