Linseed Price in Canada (FOB) - 2023
The average linseed export price stood at $790 per ton in September 2023, growing by 9.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2023 an increase of 11% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,192 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($1,069 per ton), while the average price for exports to Peru ($426 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+36.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Linseed Price in Canada (CIF) - 2022
The average linseed import price stood at $1,365 per ton in 2022, rising by 99% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a strong expansion. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,633 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($2,702 per ton), while the price for the United States ($1,213 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
