The average lentil import price stood at $988 per ton in June 2023, approximately equating the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 4.9% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,082 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Canada amounted to +1.0% per month.

The average lentil export price stood at $2,054 per ton in 2022, rising by 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a pronounced increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 94%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United States amounted to +3.7% per year.
Lentil Imports in Mexico
In 2022, supplies from abroad of lentils decreased by -11.9% to 31K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 52K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
