Leek Price in Ukraine (CIF) - 2022

The average leek import price stood at $1,663 per ton in 2022, declining by -13% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, leek import price increased by +45.3% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average import price increased by 29%. The import price peaked at $1,912 per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($2,370 per ton), while the price for Uzbekistan ($1,500 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Albania (+21.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Leek Price in Ukraine (FOB) - 2022

The average leek export price stood at $4,060 per ton in 2022, jumping by 92% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 289%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Panama ($6,229 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($1,833 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Leek Imports in Ukraine

In 2022, the amount of leeks and other alliaceous vegetables imported into Ukraine soared to 176 tons, picking up by 35% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 98% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, leek imports surged to $292K in 2022. In general, imports saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 134% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Leek Exports in Ukraine

In 2022, shipments abroad of leeks and other alliaceous vegetables decreased by -98.9% to 669 kg for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, exports faced a significant contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 1,800% against the previous year.

In value terms, leek exports fell rapidly to $2.7K in 2022. Overall, exports faced a sharp setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 1,558% against the previous year.
