Kiwi Fruit Price in New Zealand (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average kiwi fruit export price amounted to $2,850 per ton, shrinking by -6.4% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $3,043 per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($3,797 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($1,544 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+10.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average kiwi fruit import price amounted to $2,484 per ton, which is down by -2.9% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, kiwi fruit import price increased by +60.7% against 2016 indices. For the fourth consecutive year, New Zealand recorded growth in shipments abroad of kiwi fruits, which increased by 3.5% to 671K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 14%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, kiwi fruit exports dropped slightly to $1.9B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 16%.

Kiwi Fruit Imports in New Zealand
In 2022, overseas purchases of kiwi fruits were finally on the rise to reach 442 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a sharp descent.
