Inulin Price in France (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average inulin import price amounted to $3,302 per ton, falling by -8.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 15% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,107 per ton. From April 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($11,935 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($2,854 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Inulin Price in France (FOB) - 2022
The average inulin export price stood at $4,656 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, inulin export price increased by +69.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 33% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $5,386 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($10,262 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($2,442 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+15.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Inulin Imports in France
Inulin imports into France totaled 2.7K tons in 2022, increasing by 4.3% against 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 9.8%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, inulin imports skyrocketed to $9.3M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +9.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, overseas shipments of inulin decreased by -53.1% to 78 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports faced a precipitous decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 36%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 492 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, inulin exports declined dramatically to $363K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a sharp downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 38% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.4M.
