Grapefruit Price in the Philippines (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average grapefruit import price amounted to $1,046 per ton, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 93% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,160 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($1,046 per ton), while the price for the United States ($1,046 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+37.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average grapefruit export price amounted to $1,002 per ton, falling by -9.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 23%. The export price peaked at $1,793 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Oman ($1,002 per ton) and Qatar ($1,002 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($1,000 per ton) and Norway ($1,000 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (-5.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Grapefruit Imports in the Philippines
In 2022, the amount of grapefruits imported into the Philippines shrank dramatically to 112 tons, with a decrease of -44% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports showed a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 38%.
In value terms, grapefruit imports fell markedly to $118K in 2022. In general, imports showed a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 41%.

Grapefruit Exports in the Philippines
In 2022, overseas shipments of grapefruits decreased by -24.5% to 5.5 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 208%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 8.8 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, grapefruit exports fell notably to $5.5K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 187%.
